29 - 31 March - Medellin

600km to get to Medellin so we took in a bush camp on the way, in the grounds of a house whose owner kindly let us stay without charge. We knew we were setting up our tents on the edge of a mountain even though it was pitch black but didn't see the beautiful view till the morning. The family enjoyed watching us set up and pack up the next morning and wanted a photo with us. Lovely eh.

Did a tour of Medellin, which was great. 10 years ago, this was one of the most violent cities in South America, but is pretty safe now. Some of the downtown area is pretty rough, with a plentiful supply of junkies and prostitutes amongst the sculptures of Botero (Bottero?) which made for an interesting juxtaposition.
